Conegliano & surrounding area
Deep roots. Not only those of the lush vineyards of Conegliano, but also those of an ancient history, rich in art and tradition.
Conegliano and its hills in the heart of the Treviso March, between the Alpine peaks and the Venetian lagoon.
In Conegliano and the surrounding area there are numerous sites of historical and artistic interest, the result of its history and medieval vestiges, as witnessed by the castle that dominates the town.
Conegliano is the starting point for thematic itineraries of various kinds, namely: artistic, historical, food and wine, and sports routes. It is also renowned for its wines – Prosecco above all – and for the production of grappa (grape-based pomace brandy), a true symbol of the Venetian tradition.
Conegliano is also the starting point for reaching, to the north, the hills and the piedmont and mountain localities and, to the south, the countryside of Treviso and Venice.
Treviso too is a city to discover in every season, with the slow pace of someone who wants to savour every corner of it, to discover its unique views, and to breathe the quiet city life. The heart of the city and the meeting place of the locals is the Piazza dei Signori (Lords’ Square), with the Palazzo dei Trecento (anciently, the seat of the Highest Council) and the beautiful Loggia dei Cavalieri (Knights’ Loggia).
The two rivers run through the city, namely Sile and Cagnan, giving a unique charm to its historic centre, enclosed by very ancient walls. Do not miss a visit to the Duomo (Cathedral), which houses frescoes by Pordenone and the altarpiece with the Annunciation by Titian. We recommend a visit to the Museum of Santa Caterina dei Servi di Maria, to the Dominican Church of San Nicolò and to the House of the Carraresi, which in recent years has been used to host exhibitions of worldwide interest. A city, in short, that can offer magic moments to those who love walking unhurriedly, following the watercourses, upon the cobblestones worn by time and history, to end up sitting in a tavern or in one of the many small bistros overlooking the city squares to enjoy the delicacies of the Treviso region.
